Academics
At Dunbar, academics have evolved to incorporate numerous curricula with hands-on and online tools that enhance the student's learning experience. We also use various online assessments so students can receive real-time results. We provide all students with a laptop to support them in completing work in and or of school.
Classes and Curriculum
ELA
In ELA, our main curriculum is HMH which uses engaging texts to enhance reading and writing skills.
Science
Dunbar uses Amplify as our Science curriculum with various hands-on and online tools for teachers and students.
Math
For Math, we use enVision Mathematics which offers problem based learning, digital tools and numerous family resources.
Social Studies
Passport to Social Studies was produced by New York educators and blends history and civics with printed and online materials available.
Physical Education
Our Physical Education classes combine New York State Next Gen standards with team building activities.
Health
In Health, students receive instruction based on New York state standards and using Dr. Carrera's Family Life Education program.
Music
In Music class, students learn how to read and play music using the Blueprint for Teaching and Learning standards using different instruments.
Dance
Blueprint for Teaching and Learning standards provides the foundation for our Dance classes where students are exposed to numerous styles and techniques.
Intervention
We also use various tools that provide students targeted support and skills development.
