Our School

Paul L. Dunbar is a Community School in partnership with Children's Aid located in the South Bronx.  We offer a diverse academic curriculum with rigorous instruction that is common core aligned with numerous school and community resources. The teaching staff offers whole class and small group instruction, Afterschool and Saturday programming along with family and student events throughout the school year. Our motto is to get better every day and we strive to continuously improve and progress our school.

As a community school, our partnership with Children's Aid offers a variety of social-emotional, health, and other wrap-around services. Students get a vision screening every year, with free glasses and dental visits. Children's aid also support families with coats, a food pantry and family events. 

Mission & Vision

Dunbar Middle School is a learning organization that seeks to prepare students for future academic and career endeavors by promoting creativity in discussion, writing, and problem solving, as well as collaboration and teamwork in achieving goals in order to promote students to impact their community, both immediate and global. The focus on creativity, collaboration, and community will help our students to adapt to 21st Century challenges. The students, staff, and families alike are dedicated to working towards improving as individuals and as a community on a daily basis.
